Our message series is Living the Christ-Centered Life through the book of Colossians. Sunday’s message was called Praying for Spiritual Growth, taken from Colossians 1:9-14. Here is a brief outline of the message:

I. Pray for others to know God’s will (9)
   A. Never stop praying for each other.
      – 1 Thessalonians 5:17
   B. Pray that God will fill them with the knowledge of his will.
      – Hosea 4:6; Ephesians 4:13-14
   C. Pray for spiritual wisdom and understanding.
      – Proverbs 9:10

II. Pray that others may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way (10-12)
   A. Pray that they will bear fruit in every good work.
      – cf. Colossians 1:6
   B. Pray that they will grow in the knowledge of God.
      – Jeremiah 9:23-24
   C. Pray that God will give them strength and endurance.
      – Philippians 4:13; Hebrews 12:1
   D. Pray that they will joyfully give thanks for their salvation.
      – 1 John 1:5

III. Remember that we have been rescued by God (13-14)
   A. We have been rescued from darkness into light.
      – John 3:19-21
   B. We have been brought into the kingdom of his Son.
      – Mark 1:11; Luke 12:32
   C. In Jesus we have redemption, the forgiveness of our sins.
      – Acts 26:17-18; 1 Peter 1:18-19
