Pastors Name Top 10 Most Influential Preachers

Lifeway Research recently conducted a survey asking Protestant pastors to “name the top three living Christian preachers that most influence you.” Billy Graham topped the list followed by Chuck Swindoll, Charles Stanley and Rick Warren. Here is the complete list:
- Billy Graham, preacher, evangelist, founder of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
- Charles Swindoll, senior pastor of Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco, Texas, and founder of Insight for Living Ministries.
- Charles Stanley, senior pastor of First Baptist Church, Atlanta, and founder of In Touch Ministries.
- Rick Warren, senior pastor of Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, Calif., and author of the best-selling book, “The Purpose-Driven Life.”
- John MacArthur, pastor-teacher of Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, Calif., and president and featured teacher of the Grace to You ministry.
- Barbara Brown Taylor, religion teacher at Piedmont College in northeast Georgia and author of 12 books including “An Altar in the World.”
- David Jeremiah, founder of Turning Point Radio and Television Ministries and senior pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church in San Diego County, Calif.
- Max Lucado, minister of writing and preaching at the Oak Hills Church in San Antonio, Texas, and the recipient of three Christian Book of the Year awards.
- John Piper, pastor for preaching at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Minneapolis and author of more than 30 books, including “Desiring God.”
- Andy Stanley, senior pastor of North Point Community Church, Buckhead Church, and Browns Bridge Community Church – all in the Atlanta area – and founder of North Point Ministries.
I am familiar with most of these names, and I would say most of them have had a positive influence in my life. Still, none of them have influenced me as much as the pastors who have faithfully preached God’s word to me over the years in the various churches where I have attended.

The only problem here is that only Macarthur preaches the trut, while the other need fame money etc….
Martha – I hope you’re kidding, but I have a feeling you’re not. I am guessing that if John MacArthur saw your comment, he would be horrified. He would also be the first to point out that he is not the only pastor preaching the truth, he would commend to you a number of the preachers on this list, and he would also probably direct you to Paul’s words in 1 Corinthians:
What I mean is this: One of you says, “I follow Paul”; another, “I follow Apollos”; another, “I follow Cephas”; still another, “I follow Christ.” Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized into the name of Paul? (1 Corinthians 1:12-13)
In other words, we need to keep our focus on Christ, not any human preacher.
I’m glad to see Andy Stanley made the list. I’ve been to a couple of his services at North Point. Not only are his words moving, but the entire experience of the service with all of the church video equipment and amazing people really makes it a joyful experience.
Good morning Pastor.Im N,Chigozie M.Im a Medical Student.Please,I need your fatherly advice,prayers & assistance.I just concluded my 2nd MBBS/Professional Exams.I’ll be entering my 4th year.But,after the exams,there was a problem.Out of 182 in my class,62 passed,30 resits,90 withdraw.I was withdrawn from Medical School.The problem is that a greater %age of student that passed sorted(a minimum of #500,000 and above)and via influencial people too,special candidates from Lecturers’,Deans’,Profs’,VC’s lists.The 90 of us that were withdrawn are mostly students that did not sort and had no person of influence.
Ever since 25th July that the result came out,I’ve not been myself.
I read/studied,wrote very well during the exams,I prayed,I was still withdrawn from studying Medicine.
What did I do wrong? What went wrong? What is happening to my success/destiny?

However,my dad & I went to the school,demanded that my scripts,scores etc should be reviewed,but they refused.I had wanted to apply for remarking,but with the nature of things overe there,I’ll just be wasting the little we have,because,there is no transparency there.Can you imagine,the remarking was #5,000 per course,but it has been increased to #30,000 so that students especially those that do not have can not fight for their rights via the remarking of their scripts.All the means that I’ve tried seem to be abortive.
I have stayed for 5 years now in school coupled with my pre-degree only to be withdrawn now simply because I didnt sort and dance to their tunes.It’s just remaining about 2 and a half years,I’ll graduate as a Medical Doctor.
Im confused,I dont know what to do.I want to further my medical career abroad as a transfer student(because of the problem I had due to the corrupt nature of some people in the school).Meanwhile,I applied to some Universities abroad for admission to continue with my studies there from either 3rd or 4th year,I got the admission,but my parents can’t sponsor me on it because it’s kind of expensive.Although,they have been running around to get some money because the deadline is on 30th of this month.

That I will be called back to study Medicine in the same school or God should please provide the finance/sponsor for me to further my Medical Career Abroad…please?
