Meet Peter Rabbit – Our Newest Woodland Friend

We are blessed to have many forest creatures come visit us from the woods in our backyard. This baby bunny showed up last week and has taken up residence in the black gutter-extension tubing you see in pictures two and three. He is about the size of a chipmunk. We decided to name him Peter. We figure he is a naughty baby rabbit who escaped from his mother and lost his blue jacket on some barbed wire fencing along the way. He is lots of fun to watch out our dining room window while we eat. Heeeeeere’s Peter!

  1. Barrie says:

Looks Like Peter Rabbit has found a home for sure. How does your dog react to his visits?

  2. Ray Fowler says:

The dogs are pretty funny. We have three windows overlooking the back yard that go all the way down to floor level. Reina nervously stands guard at the windows looking out at the birds, squirrels, chipmunks and rabbits, longing to give chase. Every once in a while the urge becomes too strong for her, and she throws herself against the glass. I think it must be the terrier in her. Danny is pretty clueless and hardly ever looks out the windows at anything. He is just pure, goofy, happy-go-lucky cocker spaniel. I think Peter Rabbit is quite safe.

  3. Barrie says:

Ray, I am sure that Peter Rabbit is quite safe. I can just picture Reina doing her thing at the window. Thanks for the story.

  4. Tim says:

Does your window have any screen behind it? If it does, do you think Reina can jump through the screen?

  5. Ray Fowler says:

She would probably pop the screen out if she jumped into it – which is why we need to watch her when the window is up.
