The Hunt for Gollum Movie Trailer

Can’t wait for the new Hobbit movie in 2012? The Hunt for Gollum releases May 3, 2009.

‘The Hunt For Gollum’ is a ‘Lord Of The Rings’ Fan Film made by fans for fans. Inspired by notes in the appendices from ‘The Lord of the Rings’ book, ‘The Hunt For Gollum’ follows Aragorn as he sets out to find the creature Gollum and discover the truth about the Ring … (

The Lord of the Rings trilogy is one of my favorite book and movie series. So I am looking forward to this fan-made film made for, well, fans like me! The production values look impressive for a home-made film. (I read somewhere they did this for only $3,000? That doesn’t seem possible.) Started over two years ago, the 40-minute film will be available for free download or live streaming at the official Hunt for Gollum website on May 3, 2009.

Update: Commenter Theresa corrects the $3,000 amount to £3,000 (approx. $4,500). Thanks Theresa!

This looks amazing! As a LOTR nut , hopefully this will fill the void till The Hobbit. We watch the movies once a year in a all day LOTR marathon when my wife is away doing her time with her friends . Yes I embrace the inner geek. Can’t wait to check it out!!

Actually, the producer/director Chris Bouchard said in an interview that the budget was £3,000 (not $3,000) which is close to $4,500…still an impressive effort for under 5 grand! The trailers look great…and I am going to be watching when it streams on May 3rd!

Has anyone seen this? Is it worth the time investment? Reviews please. 🙂

Bethany – I tried watching it, but it kept getting stuck. Perhaps there were too many people trying to watch it at the same time. I will have to try again later. I thought there was supposed to be a download function, which I would prefer. I was hoping to download it, burn it to DVD, and then watch it on the TV.
