Sunday Morning SoundBytes – 3/20/2016

Sunday’s Palm Sunday message was called The Way Up Is Down, taken from James 4:10. Here is a brief outline of the message:

I. The Top of the Mountain
   A. Financial security is not the top of the mountain.
   B. Worldly success is not the top of the mountain.
   C. Human relationships are not the top of the mountain.

II. The World’s Way Up
   A. The way up is “up”; the path of self-exaltation
      – pride in yourself
   B. The way up is “over”; the path of self-promotion
      – pride in comparison to other people
   C. The way up is “through”; the path of self-effort
      – pride in your accomplishments and abilities
   D. The way up is “around”; the path of self-preservation
      – the pride of entitlement

III. God’s Way Up
   A. The way up is “down”; the path of self-denial
   B. Humble yourself “before the Lord.”
   C. God will lift you up:
The top of the mountain is peace and contentment in God.

Applications: see Romans 12:3; Psalm 75:6-7; Ephesians 2:8-9; Matthew 16:25; Philippians 2:8-11; James 4:10

  1. Concerning the dates for Passover and Easter, you may not know that the catholic church wanted the dates changed because they said “the Jews killed Christ. “The REAL date” is the Sunday after Passover when Jesus was our Sacrifice as the Lamb of God and He arose that Sunday. How God has allowed the evil catholic church to send millions to hell I cannot fathom!
