Sunday Morning SoundBytes – 12/13/2015

Sunday was the third message from The Spirit of Christmas series where we are studying the role of the Holy Spirit at Christmas. This message was called The Spirit of Christmas Present (2), taken from John 14:15-18,27. Here is a brief outline of the message:

I. Jesus came so the Holy Spirit could come.
   A. Jesus = “God with us” in the flesh
      – Matthew 1:23; John 1:1,14
   B. The Holy Spirit = “God with us” through the Spirit
      – John 14:16-18,23 16:7,28

II. What does the Holy Spirit do for you when he comes?
   A. The Holy Spirit gives you new life in Christ.
      – John 1:12-13, 3:5-8
   B. The Holy Spirit makes you part of the body of Christ.
      – 1 Corinthians 12:13
   C. The Holy Spirit assures you that you are a child of God.
      – Romans 8:15-16; Galatians 4:6
   D. The Holy Spirit helps you grow in Christ.
      – Ezekiel 36:27; Romans 8:9; Galatians 4:19, 5:22-23
   E. The Holy Spirit gives you supernatural peace from Christ.
      – Luke 2:14; John 14:27
   F. The Holy Spirit empowers you for witness and service.
      – Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 12:4-5,11
   G. The Holy Spirit guarantees your place in heaven.
      – Ephesians 1:13-14
