Well written! I agree if we comitted the unforgivable sin, we would be far from god, and would no longer be lead to draw near to him, or follow his ways, even to extent of not caring if we were to fall short, thanks a lot for sharing this! And yes I would also have to agree, for us to just go about living in sin, while knowing of god's forgivness freely given to wipe them all away, but chosing to reject it would be by far worse

John - I agree: humble confession is essential to our ongoing relationship with God. However, in the post above I had more in mind the person who never enters into relationship with God to begin with. To me that is what is really sad -- the person who could be forgiven but never comes to Christ. Of course pride is an issue here, too. In fact, pride is probably the main obstacle that keeps people from coming to Christ for forgiveness.

In effect, wouldn't that be approaching faith without humility? To have faith in anything means having a degree of humbleness as you are placing some level of control in the hands of something, or someone, else.

Greek mythology, epics, and dramas are full of accounts of hubris. It seems to be one of those known issues we need to keep learning the same lesson about repeatedly.

In many ways, as Christians, it is important to the overall health of our faith to be able to say and mean: I was wrong, I am sorry, please forgive me.
