Here’s the thing. Unless I’m wrong (and I’m not), Monk is the best show on television right now. Monk is a fresh mixture of comedy, drama and good old-fashioned “who-done-it,” but always with a twist. Tony Shalhoub, the actor who plays obsessive-compulsive detective Adrian Monk, is amazing. There’s no way around it. He’s the guy.
Here’s what happened. My wife and I watched a few episodes and got hooked. It’s a blessing — and a curse. The new Seventh Season episodes start Friday, July 18 at 9/8C. Watch it. Or pick up the DVDs and start from the beginning. Don’t worry, you’ll thank me later.

Note for parents: Monk contains some instances of strong language. We use a language filter on our TV at home, but you may want to check out the series first before you sit down to watch with your kids.

We started renting Monk on your recommendation, Ray, and got hooked. We love your references to the show in your review.
Hope we caught them all!
Season 6 is coming out on DVD on July 6 and it’s at the top of our Netflix Queue.
We’re curious if the new psychiatrist is already in place or if the new season was filmed before the loss of Dr. Kroger.
Thanks for the tip!
Bethany - No, Stanley Kamel died before they filmed any of the new episodes, so his character, Dr. Kroger, will not be back. Monk will have a new psychiatrist who will be introduced in the first episode of season 7. He will be played by the marvelous actor, Hector Elizondo.
Here is a report on Stanley Kamel’s death:
