Jeff,

Sounds like a real problem. Perhaps put up signs with the warning of a fine if people don't clean up after their dog? I know it would be hard to police that (and who would want to), but maybe just the warning would help. It's certainly cheaper than filling up the dump truck with manure - but probably not as effective! :-) Anyone else have any ideas?

Speaking of dogs. I work at a college with a lot of wooded area with fire roads lots of green open areas and Athletic Fields. Each day more and more dog owners in the area are finding thier way to campus to walk/run their dogs. We are starting to have a tremendous problem with loose dogs and dog deposits. Even though we have signs posted people ignore them. Now that it is summer and hot, families with very small children are walking down the same roads that the people walk thier dogs on that lead to the swimming area at the pond and have to avoid the dog mines all over the roadway. Some of these dogs tower over small children and they will run right up and scare the kids to death or knock them over. I would like to hear from dog owners on what you feel should be our best approach to this problem. We would like to convey somehow to these dog owners that we are happy to have them visit our campus and walk their dogs, however they need to respect our property and other visitors by cleaning up after thier pets and keeping their pets on a leash. Signs don't seem to work. Now here is what the bad side of me would like to do which is fill our dump truck up with 2 yards of manure and following these dog owners to their front lawns!
